Preparation of the Vehicle

Preparation of Different Surfaces

                      Initial Cleaning of the Bed

req.gif (850 bytes)Note: If the paint surface is questionable, before beginning the cleaning of the bed you should   perform a surface solvent test.

The bed must be washed clean. In addition it is very important to wipe the bed clean with  automotive wax and grease remover, so as to reduce the chance of sanding unseen oils or greases into the metal when rough sanding the bed.

                           Masking of the Bed
                         ( Approx. 15 minutes)
Experience with well over 2,000 beds has shown the benefits of masking the bed the exact same way every time. This not only speeds up the masking process but insures that the removal of the masking tape and plastic do not cause damage to the freshly installed bedliner.

Begin the masking process by covering the stake holes in the sides of the bed.

Next, run a length of the approved 2 inch masking tape down the inside surface of  the side of the bed as shown in the photo for a standard under the rail bedliner.

Note: Over the rail "Bed Cap" installation can be placed anywhere. We suggest a extra  charge. Normally from $50.00 to $75.00.

Attach the tape so that the upper half of the tape is free and not adhering to the bed.

Repeat the process to the opposite side of the bed.
